Skin quality is part of the whole picture.
Weight loss changes the body and can also bring changes to the face. Hydration, elasticity and an even tone help preserve a naturally well-cared-for appearance. Consistent skincare supports skin quality during weight loss, ageing and hormonal changes.
Our starting point is healthy, well-cared-for skin and preserving your natural appearance. We combine a practical home routine, sun protection and treatments chosen for your needs. You are welcome whether or not your skin concerns are related to weight loss.
Where do we start at Élan?
Not sure where to start?
Contact us. We will help you choose the right first appointment for your skin.
We assess your skin and current routine, then build a manageable home care plan. Where suitable, we add a hydrating or soothing facial. For acne, we involve a doctor for prescription treatment or refer you to a dermatologist.
A chemical peel helps remove superficial dead skin cells. A suitable peel may help with dullness, uneven tone, clogged pores and superficial pigmentation. We choose the acid and treatment strength after assessing your skin.
Fine needles create controlled micro-punctures, triggering skin repair and stimulating collagen production. The aim is to improve texture and soften the appearance of fine lines and acne scars. Results develop gradually; suitability and the number of sessions are individual.
We start by assessing the cause of pigmentation and your skin’s condition. Suitable chemical peels, targeted home care and daily sun protection help fade dark spots and even out skin tone. Results and the number of sessions depend on the type of pigmentation; we involve a dermatologist when needed.
Where needed, we work with a doctor so your plan can include prescription topical treatment or a dermatologist’s assessment. Active inflammatory acne is treated first; microneedling is considered once inflammation is controlled.
Why do your skin’s needs change?
How can weight loss affect the face?
Facial fat contributes to fullness in the cheeks and other areas. As it decreases during weight loss, the face may look leaner and skin laxity or lines may become more visible. Sometimes called ‘Ozempic face’, these changes can also accompany weight loss achieved in other ways. Their extent varies. Skin quality and fat volume are different: skincare and microneedling do not replace lost fat or remove substantial excess skin.
What changes with ageing and menopause?
Ageing and sun damage affect collagen and elastin, which support skin strength and elasticity. Hormonal changes around perimenopause and menopause can contribute to dryness, thinning and sensitivity. We adapt care to your skin’s current condition, with attention to hydration, the skin barrier and sun protection.
What supports results over time?
Start with a workable daily routine: gentle cleansing, suitable moisturisation and regular sun protection. Targeted ingredients, prescription treatment or procedures can be added when needed. Skincare sits within a broader health plan that includes adequate nutrition, sleep and avoiding smoking. We review progress and adjust the plan. No procedure stops ageing.
Are chemical peels and microneedling suitable for everyone?
No. We assess your skin, medication, previous reactions and contraindications before treatment, and discuss benefits, risks and recovery. Peels may cause stinging, redness or flaking; microneedling may cause redness and tenderness. Unsuitable treatment can cause irritation or pigment changes. You receive aftercare and sun-protection guidance.
What do different skin procedures do?
You do not need to know procedure names to choose appropriate care. We start with your concerns and your skin’s needs. This guide explains how common treatments differ.
Our focus: skincare, chemical peels and microneedling
Chemical peels
How do they work? An acid-based preparation is applied to remove dead surface cells and encourage skin renewal. A peel does not always cause visible peeling. Its effects and recovery depend on the acid, treatment strength and skin condition. At Élan, we are starting with superficial peels.
Which concerns? Dullness, uneven tone, clogged pores, superficial pigmentation and rough texture. An appropriate peel may also support an acne care plan; inflammatory acne needs a separate assessment for treatment.
What can you expect? The aim is a fresher complexion and smoother surface. Persistent pigmentation or unevenness may require a course of treatments. A superficial peel will not remove deep scars or substantial skin laxity.
After treatment Stinging, redness, dryness or flaking may occur. Gentle skincare and sun protection support recovery. We agree on aftercare and the timing of other procedures or active ingredients before treatment.
Certain chemical peels may also support collagen renewal. The effect depends on the acid, its strength and the depth of the peel. The main aims of a superficial peel are surface renewal, a more even tone and smoother texture.
Microneedling
How does it work? Fine needles in a specialised device create controlled micro-punctures in the skin. This triggers repair and stimulates collagen production. Collagen is a structural protein that supports skin strength.
Which concerns? Uneven texture, fine lines and indented acne scars. Microneedling is not a treatment for active inflammatory acne; inflammation needs to be controlled first.
What can you expect? Changes develop over weeks and months, rather than immediately after one session. A course may be needed. Results depend on your skin and the concern being treated. Microneedling does not replace facial fat lost during weight loss or remove substantial excess skin.
After treatment Redness, tenderness or mild swelling may last several days. We allow for recovery and provide skincare, sun-protection and makeup guidance. Suitability is assessed first, as infection, pigment changes and scarring are also possible.
Are chemical peels and microneedling performed together?
They are distinct treatments that can be used separately or within a planned course of care. Some methods combine them in one visit, but the skin, products and procedure instructions must all be suitable.
Combining two procedures does not automatically improve the result. At Élan, we first choose appropriate care, then assess whether another procedure is needed and when the skin is ready.
For comparison: what do injectable treatments do?
These explanations help distinguish treatment goals.
Biorevitalisation and skin boosters
How do they work? These terms often describe injectable treatments with similar hydration goals. Small injections usually deliver a hyaluronic-acid-based preparation into the skin. Hyaluronic acid binds water to help improve hydration and smoothness.
How do they differ? There is no single strict distinction between the names. The specific product matters more: its composition, injection depth, studied effects and suitability for your skin. Both terms are used for concerns such as dryness and fine dehydration lines.
What can you expect? The aim is hydration and skin quality. They are not intended to add substantial facial fullness or replace lost fat. Results and repeat treatments depend on the product. Redness, swelling, bruising and other injection-related complications must be considered.
Dermal fillers
How do they work? A filler, often based on hyaluronic acid, is injected into a selected area to add fullness, soften deeper folds or change facial contours and proportions.
What do they not replace? Fillers alone do not address dryness, uneven texture or every cause of laxity. Skin quality and the need for filler require separate assessment. Medical evaluation is needed, and complications are possible.
Botulinum toxin
How does it work? Botulinum toxin temporarily relaxes selected muscles, reducing movement-related expression lines such as frown lines and crow’s feet.
What can you expect? Effects develop over days and usually last a few months. It does not add fullness or act as a skin-hydration treatment. Suitability, dose and injection sites require medical assessment.
